The history of national dive training in the United States began with the development of the YMCA SCUBA Program.

As divers and instructors, we have dedicated ourselves to the quest for ever-better ways to teach others to enjoy the underwater world. Throughout the history of sport diving, the YMCA has maintained unsurpassed standards.

Participants are taught positive/negative buoyancy and SCUBA techniques. All participants must be competent swimmers. A swimming proficiency test will be conducted the first night. Students must swim 200 yards (eight lengths of a swimming pool) prior to beginning the class.

Upon completion of this course, participants will receive their official SCUBA certification.
