Fitness Orientation

  1. This one session program is recommended for all new members!
  2. Get acquainted with fitness equipment, programs and services.
  3. Feel confident using the equipment properly for optimum benefit.

Work one on one with a YMCA fitness staff member to identify your wellness goals as we assist you in designing a plan to achieve your fitness goals.

Appointments can be made with a fitness staff member or through the Member Service Desk.

A youth conditioning program is also available for 11-15 year olds. Please see the Member Service Desk for more information.

FITSTART

  3. Would you like to have an exercise program geared especially to your needs?
  4. Do you need help incorporating fitness as a permanent part of your life?
  5. Do you need some personal attention and motivation?

Meet regularly with a YMCA fitness staff member to design a wellness and exercise program that is paced to help you make permanent behavior and lifestyle changes. This program is for you! Appointments can be made with a fitness staff member or through the Member Service Desk.

Full Association Access

A YMCA of Central Ohio Metropolitan Membership allows you full access to any of our 11 branches. With locations all across central Ohio and each branch offering something a little different, just think of the possibilities. Now you can spend your lunch hour working out at a branch near work, then take your family to your neighborhood YMCA. We're always close to home!

Land Aerobics

As a value added membership privilege, Metropolitan Members may take advantage of complimentary land aerobic classes. Whether you are a beginner or a fitness guru, we have an aerobic class for your level of fitness. Please check the Member Service Desk for classes and schedules. There is no pre-registration for land aerobic classes. All land aerobic classes are on a first come, first serve basis. Sign-in begins 15 minutes prior to the start of the class.

Racquetball

Still a popular sport for the ultimate fitness challenge, the YMCA of Central Ohio offers unlimited complimentary racquetball for Metropolitan Members at our North, Central, and Pickaway County branches. Protective eye wear is encouraged for your safety. Reserve your court today! Please see the facilities guide in the back of this program for branch locations and contact information.

Y-Cycling

Also known as “Spinning”, Y-Cycling is an excellent class for any fitness level. Bikes are available through the Central, North, and Jerry L. Garver branches. Classes are offered daily. Class size is limited and participation cannot be guaranteed. Cycling cards may be picked up 15 minutes prior to the start of class. Class Registration

Registration for classes takes place 4 times a year.
(Spring, Summer, Fall I/II and Winter I/II)
Metropolitan Members are granted priority registration, one week in advance of Program Members. Please see the Member Service Desk or the current Program Guide for upcoming registration dates.

Summer Camp

The Willson Outdoor Center, located in Bellefontaine, Ohio, is the YMCA of Central Ohio's premiere overnight camp for youth ages 7-17. Family Metropolitan Members receive a $100 discount off the total cost of one child for one week of overnight camp. Your child will want to go back again and again as they enjoy the fun and friendships of a YMCA camp experience. Visit the branch Resource Center for Camp Progam Guides.

Y-Tribes

The YMCA of Central Ohio Y-Tribes program is a nationally recognized program designed to give boys and girls from kindergarten through third grade and their parents, a one-on-one opportunity to build communication, companionship, understanding and mutual respect. Through campouts, Pinewood Derbies, rocket shoots, horseback riding, overnights, fellowship and much more, parents and children will grow together with the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility as they foster a strong relationship that will last a lifetime. Hoover Y-Park

Located on 65-acres just 14 miles south of downtown Columbus, Hoover Y-Park is an ideal location for your next event. Features include: Ground Initiatives, The Tower Climbing Wall, the Tower and Zip Line and a 10-element High Ropes course, shelter houses, cabins, Ingram Leadership Center, Optimist Lodge, volleyball and basketball courts, a nature trail, the Southeast Lions Nature Center, outdoor gazebo and much more. Enjoy the unique, peaceful and fun setting offered at Hoover Y-Park for your next outing. Metropolitan Members receive a discount on facility rentals. Your YMCA—A home AWAY from home

The AWAY (Always Welcome at YMCA) program logo insignia is located on the bottom front of your YMCA of Central Ohio Metropolitan Membership card. When you travel and want to work out or use the services of the YMCA in another city, you may do so on a short-term basis. AWAY Members are welcomed at most YMCAs both domestic and international. Visiting YMCA members from an out of town association are always welcome by showing their YMCA membership card. Stop by the Member Service Desk for more information on the AWAY program.
