To all members of the Kitchinodin Nation:
We hope to see everyone at fall camp this year. This serves as a reminder to get your fall camp application into your tribal chief prior to Thursday, October 16th to avoid the $10 late fee. We have to get an accurate count of who is attending so that the camp personnel can order the proper amount of food.

If you have any special requests, please convey those to your tribal chief. I am looking forward to a great time at camp with my son and my daughter as I am sure you are too.

As summer nears an end and our children head back to school it is time for us to once again assemble and begin another year’s journey in Y-Tribes. Our theme this year appears to be growth as we look at expanding tribes and growing the organization. For the veterans of Y-Tribes, I think we can look ahead at all of the wonderful times that await us and our children. For those that our new to Y-Tribes, the hope is that a stronger bond will be formed between you and your child as you enjoy all that Y-Tribes has to offer.
Within the next few weeks Tribal Chiefs should be hosting a parent meeting to organize individual tribe meetings. Remember that tribal meetings provide a means to stay connected with members of your tribe and generate excitement for the numerous nation activities. I refer back to an old saying: “you get out of something what you put in.” It is up to each tribal chief to make this organization work. The work put into planning tribal meetings is worth it when you see the smile on your child’s face.
We will also be trying something new this year with a fall kick-off at the YMCA. This will be held on Saturday, September 20th from 6:30 -9:00. It is a chance to see what the program is about and enjoy time other nation members. More information will follow.
Fall Camp is also around the corner as we wait to hear the drums that lead the procession to the Kitchinodin council fire. This is a very important event as it sets the stage for the interaction that you will have with your child for the rest of the year. I promise new members that this is truly a rewarding weekend. Keep in mind that football games come and go, and yard work will be there in the spring; but the opportunity to share the Fall Camp experience with your child at this age is offered only once.
Something for Tribal Chiefs to consider: tribal meetings within a week of camp generate excitement among tribal members which can lead to increased participation. Without tribal meetings, Fall Camp can be overlooked.
The Kitchinodin Nation has many flaming arrows for nation members to keep in mind:
• September 18, 7:30 Longhouse meeting for Tribal Chiefs and Nation Officers
• Tribal Chiefs to communicate rosters to Steve Hall by Sept. 18 Longhouse.
• Tribal Chiefs to generate interest in Fall Camp
• October 16, Longhouse meeting for Tribal Chiefs and Nation Officers. Number of camp participants due to Jeff Bryant
• October 24, 25, 26 Fall Camp at Camp Willson
Enjoy the new year with friends and family.
Your Nation Chief,
Trailblazer

Greetings to the all the new Nation leaders, Tribe leaders, and all the guides and princesses of the Kitchinodin Nation Y-Tribe. I am the new Kitchinodin Nation Chief Running Deere. I am very excited about the opportunity to be involved with the Y-Tribes for the upcoming year and have enjoyed my involvement as Sub-Chief during the year just concluded. Chief Charging Bull helped make the Sub- Chief position enjoyable and rewarding for me this past year. I will be forever grateful to Charging Bull for his patience and guidance.
With Spring Camp behind us, it is time to look forward to planning a successful 2007-2008 Y-Tribe year. The Kitchinodin nation will again this year be supported by a great group of Nation and Tribe leaders as well as support from Gretchen Space, our YMCA representative from Hilltop YMCA.
I anticipate that the 2007-2008 year will bring fun activities for guides and princesses at the Tribe level and at Nation events.
As our Elder Charging Bull indicated, please recruit new members to the Kitchinodin Nation so all children of YTribe age have the opportunity to participate in this wonderful tribe.
Again, it is with great pleasure that I assume the roll of Chief of the Kitchinodin Nation for 2007-2008.

This Y-Tribe year went faster than any before. I cannot believe it is time to move on to Elder and introduce the new Chief. My year as Chief was made easy with the help of past Chiefs. They were ready to lend a hand or give some advice at anytime. This helpfulness is the heart of Kitchinodin Nation and is displayed by all the parents, and it is being passed on to the Guides and Princesses.
Graduates, do you want to join the Trails Tribe and continue to do things with the nation? If you do, you must contact the Y-Tribe Coordinator at 614-276-8224, so you can receive information about upcoming activities. Also, it is an old tradition of Kitchinodin that the Graduates try to replace themselves in their tribes. Try to find a kindergartener or first grader to join your old tribe. Finally, blink a few times and summer will be over and Fall Camp will be here on October 5, 6, and 7th.
Thanks for the opportunity to be Chief of the great Kitchinodin Nation! Now, let it be know to all Kitchindon Nation, I introduce Chief Running Deere.
