Youth Development Coordinator
The Don M. and Margaret Hilliker Y, located in Bellefontaine, is seeking a full time Youth Development Coordinator to plan and promote youth, teen, and young adult development programs which meet the diverse need of the membership and strengthens community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
Organizes, promotes and leads assigned programs (child watch, kids time, family programming, teen leadership, community outreach, etc.) within the branch and in the local community.
Leads continuous improvement efforts focused upon established key Association benchmarks including but not limited to the following measures:
% of members reporting that team members are both friendly and competent.
% of members reporting that they feel welcome and that staff know their name.
Works closely with the youth development director, or designated director, to ensure that assigned programs have access to the necessary space and resources within the branch to meet the goals of the programs.
Works closely with the youth development director, or designated director, to ensure that assigned programs are developed and delivered to meet the goals of the program.
Collaborates with the branch executive director and his/her management team to ensure the safe and responsible operation of the Y including rotating responsibilities for overall facility supervision and program coverage.
May provide coaching, coordination and direction for program facilitators within the branch. In such cases, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, screening, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; scheduling sports classes and clinics; identifying and supporting coaches for those classes and assuring that data entry for the class is complete; appraising and coaching performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Bachelors degree in youth development, education, psychology or related field, and two years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
YMCA Team Leader certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months
Requires completion of:
Principles and Practices, Introduction to Volunteerism, Introduction to Leading Others, Introduction to Fiscal Management, Leadership Competency Assessment, Team Leader Certification Test.
CPR, First Aid, AED and O2 certifications must be obtained within 30 days.
