The Jerry L. Garver YMCA, located in Canal Winchester, is seeking a full time Preschool Coordinator. This dynamic role develops, implements and supervises programs in branch preschool programming that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
Greets each child and parent; communicates often and professionally with families and children.
Coordinates and oversees the implementation of assigned duties such as: Curriculum, snack, monitoring supplies and coordinating staff.
Offers children appropriate affection, verbal praise and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for behavior; sets firm limits with positive phrasing and actions when necessary.
Maintains prompt hours and follows procedures for absences as well as monitoring those of her staff.
Attends all association-wide child care training sessions for age appropriate groups.
Hires, trains and observes staff to ensure that program maintains quality standards and staff use appropriate procedures in working with children and their parents.
Provides input on staff performance reviews.
Schedules and runs regular staff meetings as needed.
Assists in monitoring budget compliance.
Communicates regularly with families and staff; is readily available to handle issues.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists program director in managing a team of 5-10 staff in the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training and coaching employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
YMCA Team Leader certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months
Team leader certification requires: Principles and Practices; Introduction to Volunteerism; Introduction to Leading Others; Introduction to Fiscal Management; Leadership competency assessment; Team Leader Certification Test.
