Older Adult Program Coordinator

The Hilliker Y has an exiting opening for our Older Adult Program Coordinator. This position oversees the enrollment, delivery, and continuous improvement of YMCA Older Adult Programs with special attention paid to the SilverSneakers program partnership with Healthways. This is a part time position (15-20 hours per week) and includes a free YMCA membership!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
Organizes, promotes and leads older adult programs within the branch and in the local community.
Works closely with the Enrollment and Wellness Support teams to ensure that older adult members receive the appropriate level of empathy and support for their unique health and wellness challenges and opportunities.
Works closely with the Chronic Disease Program Coordinator on the promotion of the Medicare funded YMCA Diabetes Prevention Programs taking place at the branch and in the community.
Leads continuous improvement efforts focused upon established key Association benchmarks including but not limited to the following measures:
# of SilverSneakers Active Participants each month
Average Number of Visits per SilverSneakers Participant
# of total monthly SilverSneakers visits
Older Adult email acquisition rates
% of members who report developing friendships at the Y
% of members reporting that team members are both friendly and competent.
% of members reporting that they feel welcome and that staff know their name.
Works closely with the Director of Member Impact to ensure that older adult programs have been scheduled at strategic times of day that work well with existing building usage patterns so as to maximize facility usage throughout the day.
Collaborates with the branch executive director and his/her management team to ensure the safe and responsible operation of the Y including rotating responsibilities for overall facility supervision and program coverage.
May provide coaching, coordination and direction for program leaders within the branch. In such cases, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, screening, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising and coaching performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, psychology or related field, and two years experience working in health and wellness or social service environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
YMCA Leader certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months
CPR, First Aid, AED and O2 certifications must be obtained within 90 days.
