The Gahanna YMCA is seeking a water lover to serve as Deck Supervisor! This position will ensure a safe and positive environment for members so that they can have fun while learning how to swim while ensuring that instructional staff are able to teach in a well-organized environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
Organizes and maintains participant records by: tracking attendance at lessons; pulling participant cards at the beginning of each session and dividing participants into groups based on individual skill levels.
Provides instructors with lesson plans that are appropriate for the skill levels; monitors the instructional staff to ensure that lesson plans are followed and participants are given the opportunity to achieve goals.
Relates with parents of participants by: providing information/procedures around observing lessons; providing handouts and flyers; answering questions during the lessons; distributing and collecting program evaluation forms during last class of the session.
Participates in emergency drills and procedures to the highest level that training and situation permits.
Must be at least 18 years of age and have previous teaching experience.
Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen, and YSL certification required.
